Your Android desktop,
on the car screen.
KoalaMirror projects any app from your phone to the factory Android Auto head unit. No custom ROM, no flashing, no laptop — install, deploy, drive.
Mirroring without compromise
Injection-based projection that treats the head unit as what it is — another screen of your phone.
Mirror anything
Maps, music, video, messaging — your entire Android desktop on the car display, not just the short list of apps a store decides to allow.
Every major root
Magisk, KernelSU, and APatch are all first-class. Missing Zygisk? ReZygisk is auto-provisioned on deploy.
One-tap deploy
Install the APK, tap Deploy, reboot. The app handles the module — no flashing zips, no command line, no computer.
A home screen for the dash
KM Launcher keeps the projected screen calm — a minimal, glove-friendly grid that stays out of your way.
Meet the Launcher →Private by design
Anonymous-only diagnostics and signed remote config. Your files, contacts, and messages never leave the phone.
Read the privacy policy →Three steps to the car
From a rooted phone to a mirrored dash in minutes — everything happens on the phone.
Root your phone
Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch — if you're here, this part is probably done already.
Install & deploy
KoalaMirror provisions the Zygisk module for you. One tap, one reboot.
Connect & drive
Plug into Android Auto as usual — your desktop appears on the head unit.
Tested across versions
Verified on real devices and emulators. The floor is Android 12L (SDK 32).
Requires Google Mobile Services on the phone · nothing is installed on the car side
Two apps, one cockpit
KoalaMirror puts your desktop on the head unit. The Launcher makes it feel at home there.
KoalaMirror
Projects your full Android desktop onto the factory head unit through Android Auto. Navigation, media, messaging — whatever runs on your phone now runs on the dash.
KM Launcher
A minimal, low-distraction launcher made for car screens — transparent over the projected wallpaper, with big glove-friendly tiles. Works great standalone, too.
Questions, answered
Root, compatibility, privacy — the short version. The full list keeps growing.
Do I need root?
Yes. KoalaMirror works through root-level injection and needs a Zygisk runtime. Magisk works out of the box; on KernelSU or APatch, the app auto-provisions ReZygisk during deploy.
Do I need a custom ROM or to flash anything?
No. KoalaMirror is a regular APK. Install it, tap Deploy, reboot once — the app provisions everything by itself. No flashing zips, no command line, no computer.
Does it work with my car?
If your car or aftermarket head unit runs Android Auto, KoalaMirror can project to it. It rides on the standard Android Auto connection your car already supports — nothing is installed on the car side.
Can I use the Launcher without KoalaMirror?
Absolutely. It works standalone on any Android 8.0+ device — phones, tablets, aftermarket head units, even wall-mounted panels. No root needed, and it's free.
